License requirements

West Virginia law requires a license fee on all dogs 6 months of age or older and dogs are required to wear a license tag.  You may purchase your Wood County dog license at our shelter or at the Wood County Court House - Judge Black Annex..

 

Licenses must be renewed annually and are available from July 1st to September 30th at the shelter for purchase.

 

Dog license fees:
City of Parkersburg and outside city limits $3.00
Vienna & Williamstown $6.00

If you find a stray dog wearing a license tag, you can call the Wood County Assessors Office and request a license search.
