Volunteer Orientation

Event: Walk Your Paws - Leader of the Pack
June 7th, 2008: Please join us by donning your favorite motorcycle duds while leading your pack of four-legged family members! Our annual Elinor K. Ross Memorial Walk Your Paws is just around the corner and sure to be a good ol’ time for everyone!
Find us at Parkersburg City Park, Shelters 1A and 1B. Everyone in the Mid-Ohio Valley is invited to join us for this fun-filled day. Rain or shine, registration is from 8:30a.m. to 9:45a.m. The Walk will begin at 10:00a.m.
Pet owners and non-pet owners are encouraged to participate. Take your sponsor sign-up sheet everywhere you go - ask friends, neighbors and co-workers to pledge money for you and your pet to walk. There are several prize categories, so be sure to get as many sponsors as possible. Be sure to tell your sponsors that their donation is tax deductible and will help the HSOP. To be eligible for prizes, you must raise a minimum of $25 in pledges and must turn in all of the money at registration.
Please make sure that your dog has a suitable collar with leash, and be up-to-date on all vaccinations. No female dogs in season will be allowed to walk.
We will have a continental breakfast provided by Tim Horton’s and many wonderful vendor booths. Don’t miss this fun event.

ZooToo Contest
The HSOP has qualified for the million dollar makeover grand prize by finishing in the Top 20 of the ZooToo contest. This guarantees us to win at least a $5,000 cash prize but maybe more. The winner won't be announced until May 15th at the 2008 Animal Care Expo in Orlando and we're being asked to send a representative to this event. On April 23rd, at 2:00 p.m. at the Shelter the ZooToo representatives will be visiting our shelter as a part of the selection process and we are inviting everyone to come join us at the Shelter on this day. Please come celebrate and thank the ZooToo people for this great contest.

We are excited to present to the public our new Humane Society of Parkersburg logo that you now see at the top of every page. This logo was designed by the Stonewall Group of Marietta, Ohio and we hope you’ll soon be seeing it everywhere. You can also read more about this effort in our official Press Release.
