Volunteers must attend our Volunteer Orientations prior to volunteering in the Shelter.  Orientation classes are held every month and require scheduling in advance.   Once you have completed and submitted the Volunteer Application you will be contacted, primarily by email, to schedule you for the next available Orientation.  Sessions are held over a two-day period each month and include the following:

Orientation Session I - Sunday, 1:00 p.m.:      General information about volunteer opportunities, policies and procedures when serving as a HSOP volunteer inside and outside the Shelter, a Shelter tour, communications overview (how we'll communicate what's going on with you), and question and answer period.

Orientation Session II - Thursday, 5:30 p.m.:   Overview of proper dog and cat handling techniques and then we'll match you up with an experienced volunteer who will show you the ropes and introduce you to some wonderful shelter animals!
