2013 Camp Ruffin’ It - Applications now being accepted for June and July camps!
“Camp Ruffin' It” is a day camp for 8 to 12 year olds who love animals! The camp will provide ample opportunity for each camper to learn more about animals in general, responsible care, the work of an animal shelter, and the handling and training of companion animals. This experience will include both hands on activities with shelter animals, as well as demonstrations and educational sessions with experts in obedience and agility training, grooming and bathing, cat handling, pet safety, vet care and much more.
- Campers will participate on a 3 person team, led by an adult counselor, with each team caring for their assigned Shelter Team Dog. The Campers will care for and work with the dog throughout the week to prepare them for adoption and life in a home.
- Enrollment will be limited based on availability of adult counselors but usually we have room for 21 to 24 Campers. But in keep in mind SPACE IS LIMITED and so register early!
- Applications are available below via PDF ( print and send to the shelter) or also at the Shelter during normal business hours.

Where: Floodwall building, just behind the Humane Society of Parkersburg facility – 29th and Poplar Streets
Cost: $100 per camper
Scholarships are available. Please attached a request for scholarship to the front of your applicaation package that explains why your child should be considered for a scholarship. These requests will be evaluated based on need and the number of scholarships available for each camp.
